My love for reading began in my grandmother’s enchanting library, complete with a spiral staircase and nestled into the side of a hill. This magical space, filled with cozy nooks, plush chairs, and hundreds of books, was my sanctuary. From fantasy epics to feminist literature, autobiographies to environmental protection textbooks, my bookcase reflects the diverse facets of my personality.

In school, I thrived in creative writing classes and developed a keen interest in grammar and punctuation. This passion followed me into the corporate world, where I quickly realized the importance of well-crafted presentations. There’s nothing worse than a meeting derailed by poorly punctuated slides or text-heavy presentations.

Affectionately known as “Angry Angie” at university and work, I take pride in my meticulous approach. My standards may be high, but I believe in doing things right and well.

My passion for environmentalism started early, often leading my family in beach clean-ups. This dedication translated into a degree in Development and Environment from Stellenbosch University, South Africa. My career began in London, working in the civil service on renewable incentive schemes, where my investigative skills shone. I believed in doing what was right, with no grey areas, which naturally led me to a career in audit and compliance.

However, the private sector’s grey areas and focus on the bottom line led to burnout and a reassessment of my values. This journey brought me to the land of smiles, where I am now pursuing a career in proofreading and editing.

This new venture allows me to leverage my skills in technical documents, official guidance, legislation, and business report writing. By day, I strive to perfect the written word, and in my spare time, I work with local organizations to protect the environment.
